‘Golden Axe’ Adaptation Moving From Comedy Central to Paramount+; Sets Release Date for September 16

The upcoming SEGA adaptation of the hit 1980s video game, Golden Axe, finally has a premiere date, but not on Comedy Central. Instead, the series will make its debut on September 16 on Paramount+.

The series is produced by CBS Studios alongside Sony Pictures Television. Co-creators are Mike McMahan (Star Trek: Lower Decks, Solar Opposites) and Joe Chandler (American Dad, Napoleon Dynamite. Matthew Rhys (Widow’s Bay)Danny Pudi (Mythic Quest), Lisa Gilroy (Jury Duty), Liam McIntyre (Spartacus), and Carl Tart (Grand Crew) will voice characters in this series.

Golden Axe follows legendary warriors Ax Battler, Tyris Flare, and Gilius Thunderhead as they reunite to save Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder, who just won’t seem to stay dead. Their quest is complicated by Hampton Squib, an inexperienced and wildly underprepared adventurer whose dream of heroism far exceeds his abilities.
